C-5M , 767, C-17 @ CHC

What a great afternoon......heard a rumour about a C-5 so i shot out and waited....glad i did. The place looks like a U.S base at the moment....2 C-17's, 4 LC-130's and the big boy.
Also got a shot of that Uzbekistan 767 taking off with a load of fishermen going east.....and in the middle of it all ...a bloody 4.7 earthquake

Before you ask...yes it is a C-5M....Confirmed by the tail number...almost brand new.

Jezz Marty , you could have come to pick me up ! .. Loved to been 'head' out there is out off the question at the mo - and i missed all this .

The C5M , they are upgrades , the hull was built in 1970 , the entire aircraft has been stripped and rebuilt with new engines and complete mod with all the fancy gadgets added

If you have a play around with your photo editing program, you may find a tab or menu option for 'shadow correction'. I find this easier to use than the curves graph, and it brings out the details in the shadows nicely. For something like the first few shots, where they are against a bright sky, then shadow correction might be just the answer I use Photoshop CS and there is both a shadow and highlight option, find it under the 'adjustments' menu.

Only a thought though, there might also be a setting on the camera to compensate for backlit subjects.

I was working too........ controlling those very same planes as they made their way down from PHNL!!

The ice season is a busy and interesting time for ATC...... for safety, all flights coming and going from the programme must do so at separated levels until it is known that they have either landed or passed the PSR (Point of Safe Return) and are known to be continuing. Quite often, aircraft will get close to the PSR only to find the weather has deteriorated below minimums. Because comms can be dodgy so far South its not uncommon to have an aircraft call you well after they've already turned around and started heading back to NZCH!!
