For those of you who don't trawl the PPL/CPL thread, I just thought I'd reshare the link to an album on my facebook here.

I went down to the South Island last week with a group of aircraft from Ardmore to do a mountain flying course at ZQN, there was so much stunning scenery everywhere that it was impossible not to keep whipping the camera out every 20 seconds! biggrin.gif

If you like this sort of thing, there's 90+ snaps from our adventure here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2473...mp;id=643271743

Looks like it was a great experience Andy. I never got to do any formal mountain flying on my South Island trip, Wakatipu Aero Club were too busy at the time. Looks like a bit of a lenticular cloud forming in the right of that photo?

Brilliant photos dude! Great part of the country to fly around. I was waiting in the queue behind you for the pumps at CHC, they've never been so busy lol.

On a side note though, you guys may want to read your AIP Vol 4 a little more closely before transiting CHC again. The Piper in particular made a bit of a hash of it from what I heard over the radio.

That would be really interesting to see, feel free to use my photos for that.

Yep you know it. There were some real intense formations down there actually, even the CFI was impressed with them. Not too turbulent flying conditions though like I was expecting after being drilled with the horrible image of rotar zones in AFS met class!

Small world CHCalfonzo! Yeah we'd been flicking through them on the way down, thought we all knew what to do but it took us a bit by surprise, being unfamiliar with the VRP's and all! ohmy.gif Not that its an excuse but its always the case when on long X-countries, you can always tell the 'foreigners' at Ardmore making slightly different radio calls and not adhering to the local unspoken rules and procedures tongue.gif

Cheers for the feedback- might have some more aviation photos to post from ZQN next, next weekend- going back down there for a holiday on Air NZ on Monday!
