Well, I've finished my Cross-Country phase now and I'm into my MEIR phase; either on the Partenavia's or Seneca, haven't decided yet. However, here are a few final pics i've taken on some of my cross-countries.

Parked up in Wanaka, looking towards the West

Through Arthurs Pass on the way to Greymouth

Two club aircraft, PA28-181 ZK-FJT, and an Alpha A160a ZK-VCD at Omaka.

Near Takaka, Golden Bay region

Cruising in CAC's Piper Arrow PA28-200R, ZK-DUY.

Cheers guys, hopefully some IFR pics to come!

Haha, I thought it was LJF last time? Quite strange that it would be the first plane, they usually reserve the Arrow for post PPL training.

Didn't think it was worthy of a new thread but here are a few pics and vids I've taken during my Cross Countries at IAANZ also:

LJE in Wellington:

LJE later that day heading south across the strait for Kaikoura and Christchurch:

The same Archer in Kaikoura that afternoon:

Heading over to Westport in Arrow ZK-DUY:

DUY on the ground at Westport:

And here's a quick video I shot cruising up the coast in Archer ZK-LJC one morning. Autopilot makes life easy biggrin.gif
Archer Video

Sorry about the quality, most were taken on my iPod.

I really like that video clip... flying the sim's scenery is always better when you've been there.
Now we've all "been there"!
Unusual approach, too, so we got to see the "other side".

Certainly is an interesting approach. Naturally, you'd think both circuit directions would be out over the sea, but apparently not. The traffic side for 05 is also quite hilly, which would leave virtually 0 options if you had an engine failure in the circuit and couldn't make it back to the runway. However, always a bit of fun into KI, especially in a decent Easterly.

Some more pics.

The cockpit of ZK-VCF, an Alpha 160A. Really well equipped, dual coms, GPS, ADF, OBS. Nice to fly as well.

Nice pics. I wonder if any of those Alphas were originally CTC aircraft? Apparently they sold them all off due to issues with CO getting into the cabin. Or so the story goes haha, else I'd probably be flying one now. Everyone else seems confident enough using them though, including the Waikato Aero Club next door.

Agree Great Pics - ZK-VCF is an ex-CTC Alpha formally ZK-CTV

Yeah, all of our Alphas are ex CTC. They had a problem, as mentioned above, with exhaust gas entering the cabin. They spent months trying to fix/figure out the problem. Our engineers went up had a look at them, bought all of them, and had them flying within a few weeks. Apparently the CAC got them reaaaaaaaaaally cheap too.

That doesnt surprise me in the slightest. From what I've heard the biggest reason CTC ditched them is cos there were arguments about whose fault it was. There are still 3 or 4 just sitting out on the grass by the air ambulance parking at HN.

They look like quite a neat little aircraft.
