Here's a few more I found... quite a good show day I reckon.
Our pilot on the DC-3 dropped a little thought on us:
Tauranga has killed Wanaka. This saddens me, I love Wanaka as an airshow venue.
But I fear this may be true, for various reasons.
Among them: Issues about appearance fees, accommodation, and getting there.
Tauranga just ticks the boxes.

Whatever... here's a sneak pic of the Office in the Dak.
Moments later the copilot covered the GPS with a chart, and that's what is in my video clip!

I did like the RC models, beautifully rendered

Kittyhawk under restoration, got their priorities right:

One of the benefits of being a warbird pilot: you get to swing your own prop, while the world looks on

End of the day, camera batteries flat, videotapes filled up, you have to resort to the phone camera!

Hmm not sure about killing Wanaka ..yet..still a superior location (from a scenery ppoint of view) and that show attracts heaps of overseas visitors and they have a few more Warbirds (this year they wil have Yaks, FW-190 etc) than Tauranga

Great stuff...didnt see the Aermacchi close up ...looks great...the guy towing the Beech 18 is a adero modelling friend of my Dads...Ive posted pics of Beech 18 before sometime back

Great photos ... again and again those models look great! ... I can see those army fellow want some off those man food chips all strapped in the back there

I think the government sold the South Island to the Chinese hence the reason we don't airshow in the south anymore , Winsdon Peters said the Moari were off Chinese descendant and that is the reason Wigram sold or should say given away as well so 60 years after Korea the Chinese won after all .

OK a little bird whispered to me at the show, that if fast jets are your thing, then you should seriously consider going to Ohakea this year...

Here's a clip of the Dakota flight from Ardmore to Tauranga.
I've done this in the sim, it's a scenic 35 minute trip.
Those that have RealNZ Tauranga will feel right at home, I know all the landmarks even though I've only once flown here IRL!
I was tickled by the cabin "moving map display" and ribbed the pilots about their GPS hidden under a complicated-looking chart

The Warbirds enthusiasts do a great job of keeping this one alive and well.

A couple more clips... I apologise for the sound track which is due to a clever wind-proofing experiment I did, and resulted in sound being funnelled largely from my left nostril.
Next time I will bring a mike boom.

And here's why I went: the "Blue note" as the Hunter approaches at speed.
What a splendid noise!
