I remember that RvS, great stuff!
I am wondering why they transport the DC3 with wheels locked down - if you hit a bump it will try to lift the entire transporter...

I miss seeing the good old DC3 lumbering around the Bay - I still have clear memories seeing a couple of them lined up with the other top-dressers at Napier airport in the 70's. It was great watching them do their low-passes in and out of the low foothills. Things move on, of course - I'm sure keeping a DC3 airworthy enough to do topdressing would be prohibitive, at best. Still sad not to have them buzzing about: great looking aircraft, nice "big engine" sound. sad.gif
