As for the Herks .... .. I think 30490 had a Kiwi logo name to it, currently my USAF Deep Freeze book is out on loan.

It's still an H model, they're trying new propellers on it to see if they get more lifting capacity by using them.

If I remember correctly it's the same company that did the new props for the E-2's in the navy

That is correct, same E-2D , thow the Hawkeye also has modified better performance engines I'm not sure if the Herc was retrofitted with , they also found the six bladed prop on the 'J' or example created sound that 6 hour duration flight, the sound resonate that fatigued the crew.

Pesky crew, a nice noise cancelling headset would've saved them some engine development money

Interesting... amazing to think the original Herkiebirds had just 3 blades. I'd have thought the growth in blades would be directly related to absorbing more engine power.
