first photo is great and amazing but the title should be one out one taxiing because the taxiing plane is on way to runway for take off (you can tell by looking at wings)

Interesting views, Marty!

Photography stuff!.... :D ....!

With my interest in obtaining the best representation of the sky and clouds, with my "Action Camera",
It is interesting to compare the examples in this post and my efforts in my Video Post here...>>>

The sky is the limit!...LOL...!

What make and type of camera was used to get the photos of the Aeroplanes above? Digital or Film?

It is interesting to compare the difference between Digital. and Film shots!.... B-) ...!

Paul.... :D ...!

Not quite correct the "one out" is seen just after it's rotation on 05R, while taking off.

While the other "one in" is possibly Taxiing back to the NZAA Terminal Apron area highly likely after just Landing on 05R or possibly Taxiing back to the Terminal Apron area from the Air NZ Maintenance Hangers.

Hence the "one in" given the orientation position of 05R runway in use and as seen looking towards the end off 05R on the Taxi way for NZAA.

Judging by it's positioning it's likely just on the Taxiway out in front of the NZAA Rescue Fire Service RFS base and Skycare International base.

See Google Maps Satellite view for Auckland Airport to check on the Runway and Taxiway orientation positioning in relation to the NZAA Terminal Apron area.

Radar, you are correct.
The 787 on the ground had just arrived from HongKong(NZ80), and the one airborne was on its way to Apia (NZ 294)

Radar88 and Splitpin,

Thanks for correcting me.

Strange why had the 787 not retracted flaps while taxiing to gate?

Regards,

Aharon

Aharon ...no problem my friend.
I have seen them taxi almost to the gate with spoilers still deployed....so flaps and slats is not uncommon here.
And he may have been retracting them when that pic was taken.... I didn't take it , so i cant really comment.

Aharon you are highly commended on your observation skills.

It's highly likely a time constraint scenario, that has seen ATC clearing the Departing 787 Apia (NZ 294) to line up and hold behind the Landing 787 Hong Kong(NZ80) which has executed it's landing roll and has had to expedite vacating off 05R using the rapid exit taxiway A3 to ensure a minimum runway occupancy time and to allow ATC to clear Departing 787 Apia (NZ 294) with a Take Off clearance.

In using rapid exit taxiway A3 which by looking at the impressive photo can be seen as a bit of a deception just in the background as it's an a angular Taxiway pavement line between the Taxing 787 Nose and it's Tail bottom.

The quick time taking in exiting off the 05R runway using the angular rapid exit taxiway, likely has it that the Flaps were still in the extended Landing position when doing the exit manoeuvre. So by the time the 787 crew slowed down enough to manoeuvre through a sharp U turn back parallel to 05R they were likely already commencing to retracting the Flaps. As the Departing 787 Apia (NZ 294) flight rotated to become airborne as seen in the background

The Photo is indeed a very super impressive timing shot and you are likely looking at the last little bit of remaining Flap still in the process of being retracted as the photo was taken shortly after the Landing 787 completed the sharp U turn off the A3 rapid exit taxiway onto the main taxiway heading back towards the International Terminal Apron area.

Radar88,

Thanks for awesome and super cool explanations.

Sorry if the photo showing the taxiing plane's slightly extended flaps had fooled me into thinking that the 787 was taxiing from gate to runway on its way to have take off for a flight.

Regards,

Aharon
