Botswana Safari Flight

Postby Naki » Sat Oct 18, 2025 1:32 pm

Way off topic now but went on a flight over the Okavango Delta in a Gippsland Airvan from Maun Airport. Bit hard to make out the animals from the air but there were Elephants, Water Buffalo and Zebras amongst other things

There were about 20 Caravans and about 20 Airvans parked plus the odd biz jet and King Air

Better closer up!...just some of my photos of wildlife taken in Botswana (Khama, Chobe and the Okavango Delta) but also went to Zimbabwe and South African Parks

Oh very nice.
My word, Maun is a busy place these days!
We flew out of there back in the day, and had to buzz the strip at Chobe to clear the animals.
They were so used to this, they had to send out a Landrover to shoo them on.

The Okavango is a rare jewel, a credit to Botswana for choosing not to burn it all down and farm it.
