Looking towards WLG at 4500, the limit of Class G airspace over there.

How did you find the Bose X? I am thinking about treating myself to one when I get my PPL... a little bit of incentive to make sure I get it done!

I have tried the Bose on at the aviation expo they had at NZAR a few months ago... was very comfy... and the difference it made when you flicked the switch (a gentle 'woosh' and then silence) was unbelievable... However, I have not been able to try one with just a firewall between me and a noisy 4 cylinder at 2300RPM winkyy.gif

I also heard that the Bose is better than the DC X-11 passively... but I have not tried the X-11

Tony at Marinair gave it to me to have a go with. Quite fortunate since I left my David Clark at home this morning icon_redface.gif Its the first ANR headset Ive tried, quite comfortable I found, just a little too much pressure on the sides of your head, also, Im not a fan of the battery packs that you have to carry around. Its pretty good though.

I will have to see if one of the pilot shops has a demo unit... there is no way in hell I am forking out $1100+ without getting a trial for a few hours!

and looking at the exchange rate I may have to buy it before the dollar drops again... we busted US$0.80 today... ninja.gif

The dollars dropping winkyy.gif

I have a Flightcom 4DLX Classic, and its noise-cancelling is excellent compared to the normal aero club headsets which are getting old now tongue.gif

Ive got a DC H10 13.4, wonderful headset, gel inserts and all that. The club ones are the bottom of the line Pilot headsets. They are ok for local flights but hopeless for long distance stuff, you come out with a headache.

I would have got the 13.4... but at the time, they were v. expensive (still are)... and the kiwi dollar was around US$0.50, making importing them v. expensive sad.gif

Besides, my cunning plan to use the incentive of a brand spanking new headset as reward for getting my PPL is working out very nicely... all i need to do now is convince the missus that my accouting practices for getting money into my 'headset fund' are legit and above board! biggrin.gif
