Hi Guys

Happy new year to all.

Over Christmas I made the major decision to do a total re-install of FSX (so there was most of Xmas gone! smile.gif ).

The primary reason was to get rid of FScene & GEX which altered the way VLC should look, and now I have it installed as it should be I don't want to change it as I love this software.

My question is regarding the Australian Orbx/FTX software which looks to be a fantastic software if you want to fly around Australia, and I also would like to get a couple of their airports as well ..... Would anyone know if this will affect my VLC installation?

Thanks Dave

No it will not but you will have to reinstall VLC after the first Orbx AU pack you install to get back the native bush teture VLC uses. When you reinstall it make sure the FTX control panel is set to default and then all shoud be fine and you can use the FTX control panel to switch between the two countries.

thank you for your fast response mate.

Do you recommend getting the Orbx AU full pack with SP3?

Regards Dave

FTX Australia SP3 DVD is very good. Definitely the one to get if you do fly in Australian skies in FSX. There is nothing better for FSX (in Australia anyway!).

You shouldn't ever need to reinstall VLC. To be safe, before installing any addon which might mess around with your global textures, run the VLC config tool and turn off the autogen textures, then turn them back on once you've installed the other addon.

I haven't tested this as yet but to install any ORBX stuff when you already have VLC installed, it should simply be a case of:

Running the VLC config tool, de-select the 'VLC Autogen textures active' tickbox, clicking apply and exit.

Install ORBX

When ready to fly in NZ again, set the ORBX mode to default, then run the VLC config tool and re-select the 'VLC Autogen textures active' tickbox to turn them on*

*There is a small fix available from the VLC website which fixes a small bug in the config tool- You will need it for this kind of operation.

To install VLC over the top of a ORBX installation, it should be a case of:

Set the ORBX mode to default.
Install VLC.

Cheers
