I thought id let you have an early peek at the work that I'm doing at Whenuapai- I hope to release this with the next airfield update but there is still a lot of work to do. All the objects will be added to the VLC object library which should allow a decent rendition of Ohakea to be completed fairly easily as well.

Bare in mind, these are early development shots so there will be lots of little mistakes etc.

A poll- Recent work at Whenuapai has ripped up the old runway (which had been closed for sometime but used as another taxiway from the apron to RWY 08)- This work now shows on the latest Google Earth imagery (thanks Eddy for the heads up!)- Did users want the latest/as it is now or would you rather it it exist as it did when the aerial photo base I have was taken?
It's not too much work to add the taxiway and remove the old runway from the photo....

Thoughts?

My preference is to have it as it is now.

Not really practicable unfortunately.....I'll just go with developing as it exists today (ie. new taxiway and runway removed)

Think that would be the best result , you have to keep it honest and course other applications , looking forward to it Tim .

Awesome work Timmo! FWIW I agree with keeping the runway/taxiway layout as it exists today after the works. As an ex-RNZAFer who spent a lot of time at WP I can say you're really capturing an accurate look and feel of the base. Are these custom or generic models/textures you're using?

The buildings along the flight line (i.e. the main hangers, apron buildings, fire station, tower, VOR etc) are all custom models and textures with the rest (trees, objects) from the VLC library as well as a few default objects.

Hi everyone- While things have been fairly quiet on the VLC front lately due to work, study and musical commitments in the past couple of months, I have been able to spend some more time getting Whenuapai and the VLC library and airfield update closer to completion- Night maps have been added to the buildings (although more light effects need to be added) and the facilities and underlying imagery have been updated to reflect the new taxiway and deleted old runway etc.
