I finally found out how to change the amount of autogen trees and buldings in the FSX.cfg.But in wellington there are theese stupid water towers and petrol stations and stuff. I want lots of houses, lots of trees, but none of the dumb generic burger joints etc. Is there anyway to determine which aspects of autogen show up?

actually, scratch that. when i edit the fsx.cfg, nothing changes either! when buildings are made 1 there are still buildings

What are you doing to edit the buildings/trees?

Autogen objects apart from trees and buildings are controlled by the Autogen\default.xml file. You can edit this to remove objects you don't want, but you'd need to do some research first. There may be some edited default.xml files available on the web, so you might be able to find one which suits you.
Here's a thread over at Avsim, to get you started.

These settings won't change all the autogen -- in a lot of landclass textures, there won't be that many trees and buildings defined, so you won't notice any difference increasing the value. That's why this tweak works best to reduce the autogen, rather than increasing it. However you would notice a large increase in trees in forested areas, and perhaps more buildings in larger cities.
You also need to make sure that your FSX.cfg changes are sticking -- Vista works quite hard to prevent you from changing this file:)

ok, so if i put it at max (6000-apparantly that is the max you can put) it will have areas where houses should be but are missing right?

so how do i get lots of houses and none of the random objects?

Only if they are defined in the landclass textures.

Edit the autogen\default.xml file as above.
