Hi, again.
I'm having a strange issue with my ram, my system has 8 gb of DDR3 1333mhz RAM installed (4x2). I'm running Windows 7 64bit but the computer is only using 3.97 gigs of the 8 installed
The other 4 gigs has been reserved for the Bios. My system was using all 8 gigs before the Bios was updated and the i7 installed. But now I have this:

Any Ideas??
Intel Core i7 870 @ 3.90Ghz
8GB Corsair Dominator @ 1790mhz CL8 8-8-8-21
P55-GD65
Corsair H80
Two HD 7950 Vapor X cards in Crossfire
40GB Intel 320 SSD
1TB WD Caviar Blue
150GB WD Velociraptor
Corsair 400R
Seasonic 850W 80+ Gold Modular PSU
3 x Samsung Syncmaster 22" LED 1920x1080P

I don't suppose that you've allocated it to be part of your video RAM by any chance or maybe a virtual drive??

You still have the full amount or ram available to you, the reserved only means that the GFX and sound cards can take shared priority to that memory space if needed. eg: what ever is located in that space may be swapped over to the swap file so the gfx card can make use of it.

Dedicated Video memory that is on the card 1gb, memory shared with the system 3gb, total ram available to the card if needed 4gb.
Thats why you here of ppl saying that FSX runs smoother since installing more RAM, the card can use that space for texturing.

Also not to forget you are running in 64bit, the ram is divided by 2 = 4gb. but you still have 8gb installed.

My card does not appear to be using as much ram as it should if it were running with 8 gigs. looks more like its using it's share of 4gigs.
