Fsx Piston Engines Won't Start

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

Postby ngatimozart » Sat Oct 08, 2011 1:15 pm

Hi, I run FSX Acceleration with a Windows 7 OS on a Quad Core 3.2Ghz CPU and 8GB RAM. I am running a NVIDA GeForce 9600 Video card. I am having problems with all my piston engined aircraft in that they will not start. I have no issues with gas turbine, just the piston engined variety. Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I did take a turbo prop up to 12,500ft and changed to the DC3. No engines and practiced a dead stick landing. I have Just Flights DH Mosquito.

Practiced a dead stick landing is not what the problem you first explained , 'Piston E/wont' start . , your , the 'Just Flight' Mossie very simple would start right away .

so turibine engines will start but piston engines will not. I would have a look at the mixture control position (sorry for stating the obvious), the magneto switches and also things like how often the failures are armed in the FSX settings.

Curious problem though, interested to hear what the solution is....

smooth landings.

Are you trying to start 'properly' or using Ctrl + E? If using one, try the other and vice versa.

Can you also describe what happens when it doesn't start- Does the engine turn but not start or not turn at all?

I use the Fly now with the engines are already started. They just shut down. When I use CTRL + E the engine cranks over but does not fire. I haven't any failures set. I just be in P51D cockpit and the default settings are both magnetos on, fuel pump was off so turned that on, mixture 100%. Had throttle at about 10%. She cranked but not fire. I really don't want to have to uninstall and reinstall.
