Rudder & steering rate problem?

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

I wondered why my ability to steer most, really all nosewheel aircraft on takeoff to keep them on centre was so poor. Thought its just my age, well I decided I would investigate anyway. I found even after calibrating my Saitek X52 Pro joystick that even the smallest rudder
input caused full rudder deflection either way. I tried 'Auto rudder ON' and OFF, still no progressive rudder control. The nose wheel steering is the same. Now like a good Flt Simmer I copied my FSX Config file when I loaded FSX to always have something to refer back to.
So I looked at [CONTROLS] and checked controls where still 'default standard' & 'current standard' and that KBDAIL, KBDELEV & KBDRUD all =64. Now you may think I know what I am doing, but I don't, it was just a guess to look at that. Finally my fancy Flight 1 King Air B200
aircraft is the same and on the ground the rudder quivers constantly. Can anyone please HELP with this issue it would be very much appreciated.

My only real solution for the un-realistic rudder behavior was to bypass FSX's own control system and set it up in FSUIPC (registered version). You can even set up sensitivity curves there. Since then I haven't had any issues staying on that yellow line.

Thanks for your prompt reply. I will consider your option, however I would like to explore further and see if anyone can suggest a solution that doesn't involve yet another layer of third party software, cheers.

Have you tried adjusting your null or dead zone making them a little less input sensitive? Another RL trick, especially in taildraggers since you can't always see directly ahead, pick a small cloud, out beyond the runway end and aim for it. You'll find yourself tracking the centerline without even trying.

Well guys I have had success in restoring my progressive rudder & nose wheel control. It had been suggested I should maybe roll back my driver for the X52 Pro stick. I had a think about that, and realised I had not taken the time to update my X52Pro software for some time. So after updating them I find my control has been restored.
