the dreaded MFC70.dll is missing message

Postby kiwicomm » Fri Apr 17, 2015 9:38 pm

Hi all
I run FS2004 on a Windows 7 setup and I started to get the c:/users/etc/Play.lst unspecified error message when trying to launch FS9. When I try to launch it using a backup fs9.exe file on a memory stick I get the MFC70.dll is missing message. I've tried a number of fixes per all the internet advice I could find but have stalled out. I'm inclined to try a reinstall but before I do any suggestions? Thx

What happens when you start FS 2004 using the original FS 2004 CD in the tray?

Paul.

It's been quite a long time since I used the disk in favour of a crack/no cd patch but I dug them out and tried to run FS 2004 from both Disk 1 and 4 as my memory is a bit rusty. I was pretty sure it was disk 4. At any rate nothing happens when I try to open fs9 from disk 4 with either left of right click. The latter only leads me to autorum or a stub but nothing further happens.

Try reinstalling the Visual C++ 2008 runtime libraries

That doesn't seem to work either.

I wonder if I copy my mfc70.dll files and send them for you to put into your FS9 directory, PM me and I send the 3 70.dll . Application extension file thru, they may have corrupted and may kickstart FS2004 for you.

That'd sure be worth a try. I'm still wrapping my mind around the forum but have added you as a 'friend', is that what you meant?

Thanks for the help. In the end I decided to reinstall FS2004. It was much easier than I thought it would be, and a chance to ditch the addons I don't really use. Seems to be working fine now.

That's good news , the great thing with a clean install is the clean approach but sometimes it now to find some of the classic addons , pleased it working B-)

I just wish that I could re-install my spare bedrooms to get rid of all the clutter, and present them as they were originally...nice and clean and tidy.

...the same with my garden shed... ...!

55 years living in the same 2-story, 3-Bedroom, Hall, Living room, Dining room, Kitchen, Utility room, mansion with a large garden back and front. (and a garden shed), can generate an awful lot of "clutter" over the years, Ian...

...trust me!.... ...!

I'll tell you a tip, Ian....

I spent the whole of my working life, (many years ago), collecting all manner of different things to amuse myself with, for the day when I finally retired (1984).

My house is now crammed full of stuff to play with, and amuse myself with, every day*

Paul.... :groupwave: ...!
