Back again after a laptop maufunction

Hey guys. It's been awhile since on here last, not long last year when I got FSX my laptop HHD failed and am just about to buy another laptop....
Will FSX work on windows 8.1? Just reading some horror story's online...... :o Is it that bad.....????

We have plenty who run FSX on the Win8 , I think it is simply a case off getting used it , I know both Greg and Rob run it with any problems.

Yes, 8.1 is by far the most stable I've used. I tend to judge OS's on how often I need to use System Restore, but with 8.1 it is almost never. There's been a steady improvement since ME, when it was every other week...

Yes, it runs fine as long as you don't install it in the default folder (install in the root directory - eg C:\FSX ) . Even if you do install it in the default place quite a few things will still work but eventually you will have problems as you add more complex aircraft and/or scenery.

I've been running in Windows 8.1 ever since 8.1 came out and have found it to be much more stable than it ever was with XP or even win 7 (which was pretty good.)
