FSX is obosolete but certainly not dead. Now we have P3D going, and given time. most payware companies will be producing stuff for it, most will head that way. Ill be there soon.

Of course there are those like me, who believe that FSX cannot in any circumstances be run flat out with all the addons you want, no matter how big, fast or tweaked the computer!
Luckily FSX is now dead and obsolete (like FS9 I suppose) so there's no point continuing that discussion.
You didn't answer the second question which follows from that:
I wonder what a P3D-specced Ultimate Computer looks like?
Perhaps only time will tell.

Oh, and you didn't answer the first question either: what would your computer cost in Rotterdam?
I have always paid around NZD4k for a flightsim computer in NZ.
I use these guys, in the firm belief that the pro's will build you a system that will not have unexpected and unwelcome little inconsistencies.
These tend not to be obvious, until they, well, become obvious, later!

Alright then, brace yourself: 1700 euro's... About 2800 NZ$. Like I said, it's expensive here. But with the same specs I would be paying well over the 2300 euro's (3800 NZ$) if I bought it in a store. For that money it is worth it to do some digging for parts yourself.

About the P3D question: As long as P3D will be in 32-bit and the render engine isn't optimized for new hardware, I doubt it will make a very big difference. Since the source-code is from 2006 or earlier, it won't improve that well. This goes for V1. I don't know how V2 compares exactly to V1, but what I do know is: if your PC can run FSX, it will run P3D better.

But here's the big but: Before the launch of P3D V2 one of the developers stated that V2 is still a 32-bit program. This choise was made because of all those thousands of addons are in 32-bit and would therefor be useless. But he also said, that the development-team of P3D will go into conversations with addon-developers and supply an SDK (Software Development Kit) that's specific to that developer. Since they are going to work closely with addon-developers, they will get a big hand for what's going to happen in the future. So if they manage to convert a 32-bit addon to a 64-bit addon, there will be no reason whatsoever to stay at 32-bit.

And to come to your statement: I don't agree with you completely. I agree with you that the era of FSX is nearing it's end, but it's reincarnated by P3D, which is the future. I hope Lockheed Martin will soon launch an consumer-version, that will make it officially the successor of FSX. But until then, FSX is still very much alive!
