I just bought a new PC to run FS2004 on and have run into a couple of issues I am hoping that somebody here can help resolve.

First issue is disappearing scenery - or more specifically add-on scenery won't install. When I go to install add-on scenery into FS2004 via the Settings/Add-on Scenery tab, the scenery looks like it activates normally, but when I restart FS2004 and check the Add-on Scenery tab, it isn't there.

The second issue is that when I go to use Fraps (version 2.80), it isn't recording any sound from the game. I've checked to make sure my sound output, recording, and line-in levels are at or near max, and that Fraps recognizes my sound card and the option to record sound is checked. I currently have the back-panel line-out/speaker jack looped to the line-in jack (and have the sound card's controller set to have both front and back panel line-out jacks active). Fraps has my sound card listed as the Sound Device, but the Sound Input tab just says "Default".

My system specs are as follows:
Compaq CQ5110Y
Windows Vista, SP1, 32 Bit
AMD Athalon 7550 Dual Core @ 2.5Ghz
300Gb Hard Drive
3Gb RAM
Nvidia GeForce 6150SE Graphics
Realtek High Definition Audio Controller

Thanks in advance smile.gif

Update:

I was able to get Fraps to work - that was a simple upgrade from version 2.80 to 2.9.8 - it seems version 2.80 didn't support sound recording in Vista.

As for the Add-on scenery issue, further investigation has revealed that even though an add-on scenery package is listed in my scenery.cfg file (C:\Users\Chris\AppData\Microsoft\FS9\scenery.cfg), it isn't showing up in the Settings\Add-on Scenery section of FS9.

Is there another scenery.cfg file somewhere? Or any idea what could cause the game to ignore it's own scenery.cfg file?

Did you have the scenery named ie:
......................................................Wellington - and within that folder , two sub folders
.........................................................................- Scenery
.........................................................................- Texture
I generally put all extra sceneries into the Addon scenery folder , you will find two default folders already named scenery and texture in here , they are to be kept empty , i guessing this is were you maybe going wrong , Wellington will be a seperate folder all together - you can now start your FS9 go to Setting - Scenery tab scrroll till you find addon scenery - click on that to open and Wellington would be there , click on that , click OK , then simply reboot your pc .

The AFCAD for this scenery area or future scenery addons go into that default scenery folder .

I finally found out what the problem was with the add-on scenery not updating when added:

Windows Vista has a feature called "User Account Control" that if it's active will not let the newscenery.cfg overwrite the scenery.cfg file when you exit FS2004 (nor will it let you rename or save an edited version of any file for that matter). Turning off User Account Control fixed that issue as well smile.gif
