Why does N.Z look so desert like on FSX?

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

Hello there.
I am a new member to NZFF,and have been simming for only a year.I really enjoy flying around New Zealand,onFSX,and have added on a few good planes.
It was a case of trial and error getting the add ons to work, but at least now I have finally figured out how to get new skins and add aircraft.
At this stage I am not so keen to get intricate scenery addons, but I would really love to eliminate the desert like texture that unfortuanetely covers most of New Zealand. There are some patches ie,Canterbury,Nelson Bays, etc that seem to have a lush green texture, and I wish that I could add somthing on to my game to green up all of New Zealand. Is there anything out there like that? And how would I go about finding it?.I am not very computer literate,so I have to think pretty hard to work things out!!
A green texture,no matter how un-photoreal looks in my opinion infinitely better then that clay like desert.
I really love FSX,and I think that the game is incredible,so my only feelings towards the creators is one of gratitude.
Still,if someone could help me with this problem,I would be thrilled.
Regards Pete1800ftmin.

Hi Pete there is a free download file called New Zealand Landclass Scenery on Christians site http://www.simpilotexperience.com/flight-s...-downloads.html.
Also on Christians site there are two other payware files that are worth looking at if you can afford them "Mountains of New Zealand" and Roads & Rivers of New Zealand.
There is also some of our members are working on New Zealand VLC - Vector Land Class which I hope they will have out soon although as far as I know this will payware it may be well worth waiting for if you have a look through the forum you will find some post with test pics of the VLC.
But in the meantime you should get the New Zealand Landclass Scenery from Christians site.

And for whatever reason in FSX world, NZ is much 'greener' in Summer - so make sure you set the season to Summer if you want greenness....
