The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

Postby Kelburn » Sun Aug 22, 2010 10:58 pm

Sorry about this being a new thread-didn't want it to be associated with my other one because this is just a question about running fs2004:

How would it go with these:

2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
(4GB RAM/250GB HDD)
nVidia 320M 256MB DDR3 (shared)

(also how would it compare with my old system:
1.8GHz AMD Turion 64 X2
(2GB RAM/120GB HDD)
nVidia GeForce 8600M GS (shared again I think it was 256MB...)

Thanks,
Kelburn

Isn't it evident?? Boeing are my favourite aircraft.

P.S. that's is my real birthday but I wish to keep my real age secret to keep you all pondering.

FS9 goes real well on my old system and it's a fair bit below the specs of the one you propose (in fact it's more like the second system there). FSX goes okayish.

It depends how you have it running, what add-ons and what settings you are using. Really it's more of a "try and see" approach more than anything else.

I agree with Matt, you shouldn't have any worries with that set-up.

Yep - 1st system looks ok - not sure about the integrated (?) shared graphics - anything graphics-card wise that doesn't have only it's own RAM to use puts a drain on the CPU. Still, since the chipset is newish, FS9 may not care too much. Only way to known is to give it a burl. You can pick up cheap 256MB PCI-E cards from TM for less than $50 that would be an inexpensive way to find out how much of a hit (if any) you're taking - and then we'd be enlightened, too... winkyy.gif
