Saitek yoke and throttle question

Hi there guys.
I just bought myself a Saitek yoke and throttle quadrant and I have a couple of questions if thats o.k.
When I put the CD that came with the unit this came up:
"You will need to upgrade the .NET runtime to version 2.0 before you can install the SST software"
Whats that all about??.
Anyway I plugged it all in anyway,and took a flight in the Beech350.Every thing seemed to work o.k,you know,I had trim/flaps/look around etc,but on the throttle quadrant only the black lever seemed to do anything,namely increase\decrease power,while the blue and red levers seemed to have no function.I would have thought that the red one would cut my props or somthing.What should those two levers red/white be doing,and do you think it could be faulty??

You set by default in the assignment options for the pops and i use the switch , left hand behind the yoke for the Jet .

A couple of things: I'd be inclined to install the latest version of the .NET Framework. Version 4 is a bit of a pig, in that it always wants to auto-run at startup. But you can stop it and set it to manual through the Services plugin under Administrative Tools in the Control Panel. You can download .NET 4 from www.filehippo.com

As for the Throttle not working properly, you will have to learn how to do "assignments" from within the flight sim (you didn't mention if you are using FS9 or FSX). I've not done that myself yet (just using standard assignments on my CH Yoke & Pedals), but there will be plenty of folks here that can tell you how that's done if you can muddle through it by yourself.

No I have sussed it all out now.I set the controls I wanted within the sim,so its going fine now.Wow it was a really immersive experience with a yoke and quadrant.I just did Nelson to Wellington,and quite frankly forgot about the world around me for a while.

Yep - once you've flown with a Yoke & Pedals (and in your case, a Throttle Quadrant of sorts) - anything else just seems "less": don't you think?

Oh for a set of force-feedback Yoke & Pedals... I did actually ask CH about this a few times (as I got asked every 3 or 4 months about it), and they said it was a lot of work to re-tool for what they thought was a small market. Myself, I think they would have been better to do force-feedback (at least for the Yoke) and not the "tinkering" they did with the new Yoke they released last year.

On that note - has anyone purchased one of the new CH Yokes? I thought it was too expensive for relatively little gain.

Hey, I have the Saitek flight quadrant and have the levers set up, so I have Flaps and two engines, but I can't
get the reverse thrust to work properly, only one engines' reverse thurst will work. Is there any way to
get both engines' reverse thrust to work? Currently using FSX.

It requires some payware, but i found it worth it. This sticky above lays out what seems an incredibly powerful tool to assign controllers.

R/thrust , each lever can control the Jet or the prop .. course another backup is switch s , it all depends the setup to suit the operator .

We Sopwith Camel Blokes use a proper Joystick....point-and-fly... ...!

..and apparently, I hear, a new-fangled aircraft called a Supermarine Spitfire will still be using them in the future.... ...!

I wouldn't be at all surprised if one or two Commercial Passenger Aircraft in the future will start using Joysticks to control them!
Its going to be called a "Bus in the Air"...apparently!
