Hi guys
After installing Windows 7 I discovered a folder called windows.old. I was wondering if you can delete it without causing any damage to the system.
It's 47 gigs so it's not something I want on there.

The answer is "yes" provided you haven't got any programs or drivers pointing to stuff inside that folder. Some people are a bit messy with how they install stuff, but 99 times out of 100, it's completely safe to delete that old folder. If you wanted to be sure, you could move it to a backup external hard drive, delete it off your main drive, re-boot and see if anything complains. If everything's good after a week or so, you can be pretty much 100% sure you can bin it.

that folder usually contains files from the previous windows you were on, it only appears if you do an 'upgrade' install instead of (what i do most of the time) a custom install.

check whats inside it and see if any thing you recognize pops up (your files, documents etc)

47 gig? geez, mines only 11 megs, haha
