Hi all

Getting back to FSX, and have been reading about the Jesus settings and his online cfg setter app.

All a little confusing, but if anyone can clarify the below, that will be great.

As well as running his venetubo online app to create a modified cfg file, do I also need to complement this, a Vsync fix file and an external FPS limiter? Ive also seen an HDR Mod that I think toprob likes, and the ENB mod that Jesus says not to use.

Naturally I am hoping for a nice smooth system, but in todays browsing over the Jesus settings, that some have seen their visual quality reduce. Is that a possible consequence of his settings or more so that his online app reduced settings for some lower end rigs?

The best suggestion I have is take a back up of your fsx.cfg file, and then go for it. With a fast system like that I don't think it will hurt you. You can always go back in a upscale a few visual options to your liking afterwards anyway. I have a much older system, and it runs GREAT after that venetubo fix. And looks awesome doing it. If you don't like what it does, just replace your old cfg. The main thing I didn't like it doing for my computer was changing me back a step to tri-linear filtering, so I simply put it back to anioscopic filtering afterwards. Everything else I am happy with.

I was running an external limiter, but now I'm not. I had problems with it speeding up my pc clock (yes weird, but it hasn't happened since I stopped using it). So I just run unlimited fps now, and given my older system, it sits around the 30fps mark all by itself (eg flying the Level D 767) usually without the external limiter. I use a very moderate ENB Mod, not the one from Jesus, just one from google, Nick's version I think. I like the way FSX looks already personally, so just wanted a subtle effect.

But, as they say, there are plenty of ways to run FSX, and everyone has an opinion! biggrin.gif

G'day tdale,

I have used the venetobu cfg on four systems, and find it a good start for getting a smooth performance from FSX. Currently it is on an i7 4.2 OC with a GTX590 running three 27" lcd's, and an i7 at 3.4 OC with two GTX570's running three 22" lcd's, and both systems perform well.
If you decide to give it a go and are not happy (may see artifacts perhaps) - don't despair, it is easily adjustable to suit specific builds.
