Doing some housekeeping on the sim, and by accident, I discovered that the fsx.cfg file had been changed. The Texture_Maximum_Load had somehow been changed back to 1024. I have put it up to 4096 again, and immediately noticed the improvement, especially in cockpit views smile.gif . I am not sure which program had changed it back to 1024, but I will keep an eye on it now to make sure that it stay at 4096. I guess that one of the recent add-ons had set it back down.

So next time you fire up the sim, perhaps check your Texture_Maximum_Load figure in the fsx.cfg file.

Smooth landings.

Hi,

This will change every time you change display settings in FSX.

As far as I remember, I have not changed the display settings at all, but I am going to occasionally check the fsx.cfg file to make sure that it is still on 4096. I also wonder if an add-on scenery has altered the setting when it was installing.

No big drama though, just that it will have to be checked now and then. Makes a big difference though!!

smooth landings.

Always one keen to have a fiddle......I checked mine out :

Was showing 30, I repeat 30.

Like the man said I changed it to 4096 and saved it then went for a flight.

Couldn't see the slightest bit of difference.

Re-checked the CFG, now reading 512.

For my next trick.....?

30???? Baz make sure you are editing the line "TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=" and not the "TextureMaxLoad=" line, they are two totally different controls

On the Classics Hangar site, Mathias has two little downloadable gizmos - one for 2048, the other for 4096. You can double click on either icon as FSX is loading then "run".
