Hey All,

Anyone else having trouble with spawning at Medium gates at ORBX NZNI NZWN and NZAA with crash detection on in the PMDG 737. If not where is your traffic setting at as I think It maybe hitting the planes in the next gates wing or something. Im only having trouble at these two airports in the NZNI all NZSI medium gates are fine.

Before anyone says it. I don't want to turn crash detection off. sad.gif

I may have a bad install but everything else is fine atm.

Cheers

Unfortunately an Orbx thing , has been mentioned in other forums and that was the response , you may also find shadows chasing you from specific models , these are due to poor modelling and no reply to a fix either .

I know you don't want to turn crash detection off, but really it doesn't work, so you are better off without it. I like the idea of crash detection, as it would be nice to know that you've messed up a landing, but the 'touch an invisible object and go up in flames' really makes it unusable.

Ian's shadows are a similar issue -- Orbx recommend turning off shadows, and by 'recommend' I mean if you don't do it, you'll experience weirdness. They model static shadows for lots of objects to overcome the lack of FSX shadows, so leaving shadows on can result in duplicate shadows which don't match at all. I've even seen a screenshot showing a model of a motorway overhead sign with three shadows -- one part of the aerial photo, one part of the model, and one rendered by FSX. Now that was weird...

I like FSX shadows, as they give a great rendition of NZ's harsh lighting, but I'm aware that a lot of people don't use them, and they are not compatible with what Orbx call 'texture flow'.

Yeah thought as much Ian, think I read something along those lines on ORBX forums but it was a very old post and they said they were working on a fix.
Got to remember Im pretty new still to FSX etc. So crash detection still works quite well for me when I stuff up the Glide Slope and hit the Runway a bit to hard laugh.gif

Werid thing is It's all great over in Orbx's Aus4 main Airports Medium Gates. Maybe just the fact NZAA and NZWN the Parking Spots are Overlapping. I think one of the Med gates at NZWN is all good 12 or 18 I forget but when Taxiing cant quite get close enough to the Jetway before a crash happens after landing.

Oh Well. Maybe in a futre patch they might address it a little.

I'll admit it, I have shadows on as well... just not cast shadows on self the plane.

My Hanger isnt that full of Aircaft. Only been going for just about a year now. So most of the planes I use are quite new and shadows work rather well.

Should turn off the crash detection I know but it makes me look before pushback etc. And for the most part it has worked well for me so far.
But I do get that FSX is an old application and I can't expect everything.
Anyway half the fun is the tinkering. blink.gif
