My FSX will not load properly. I get a white box that appears and says "The program has Expired!". I push ok and it reappears another 20+ times, then FSX loads. Click free flight and it crashes followed by the same expiry error.

Anyone got any ideas?

Sounds like a Monty Python script to me laugh.gif. You haven't got a dead parrot in your PC by any chance?

Seriously ... I've never heard of this one before. I'll be as interested as you to hear the solution.

A reinstall of FSX has not helped either.

What have you got installed FSX with SP1 and SP2 or Acceleration?

Hi Folks

raddragon -
Guessing its not caused by FSX itself,
rather by a 3rd party addon launched by dll.xml or exe.xml.

Right now I've uninstalled every addon I own and reinstalled FSX to base (SP1) - even the fresh install is showing the same error.

Once installed can you create a flight save it as your default naming it 1 - don't fly it , exit FSX then delete the fsx.CFG , reboot or better still turn the PC off for a little whiles .

Well a head of you there, tried that already. I have completely uninstalled FSX and associated addons/utilities/config files etc - there is not a shred of FSX or the addons on the system (I've even been into regedit).

A complete reinstall of just FSX on its own and the error message appears. I've spent hours on this with no success.

Just as well and I have an assignment to do at the moment.

The hassle with so many addons , also depends on where directories are and old histories , do you have another PC you can install to copy the contents across .

I Googled the program has expired error and found quite a few references, although they had to do with games like Diablo III, Skyrim, Battlefield and suchlike.
Those who had found a solution all pointed to the software mentioned in this reply on the Steam Users forum:

"I have recently built a new computer and had the same problem. It was caused by a program which came with the motherboard called Virtu MVP. If you uninstall it your problem should go away. A pity because Virtu MVP combines the processing power of your graphics card with the one integrated into the Intel chip - quite useful! "

Glad to read that you have it up and running again. It would be useful to post the solution you used so that this thread can be a useful resource in the future.

Well, I dont have a procedure as such. Just uninstall everything, clean out the registry and hope for the best. Very frustrating though. It worked perfectly fine one day, then fine the next morning, then problem that afternoon. No warning, just loaded it up and the problem appeared.

I did also uninstall Virtu MVP (I have a Z77 chipset) as suggested by Emfrat in the earlier post - this may have helped - but I also did a fresh install of the Nvidia Drivers also.

With you all the way, reddragon - no way would I reinstall Virtu, just to prove the solution - as General Smuts said in a rather different context "The evidence may be circumstantial, but I think a jury would convict".
Pretty typical example of what happens when the marketing people get control of the asylum - sneaking in a surprise like that guarantees that I will now ask if a mobo has that installed, and reject it if it does, even though the manufacturer says it has been fixed.

Glad I may have found something that helped
