I have recently done a completed reinstall of FSX and all of the ad-dons and since then I have not been able to get one of my favorite ad-dons to work Orbix FTX-AI Traffic.
All of my airports are like ghost towns. I reinstalled the orbix base pack and all of the patches but nothing I occasionally get a plane showing up at smaller airports like Woodbourne of Omaka but no real action and if I go to a larger airport like Nelson or Auckland there will be aircraft there but they rarely move. I am not sure that the default FSX AI is working either.
Any ideas blink.gif

You don't use ORBX SI /NI do you because that has a switch to turn off default AI , just to confirm

Nope I do have SI but not installed I have read through the Orbic FTX AI pdf manual and the only mention of default AI relates to turning off the AI on some Orbix airports to stop over crowding, the only overcrowding problem I have relates to the tumble weed that is starting to gather in the hanger doorways and that damn wind whistling noise is starting to do my head in smile.gif

I even re downloaded the FTX AI files from the Orbix site to see if there was a problem with the original install files that I already had on my PC from the install before the FSX reinstall.

FTX Central dose have a switch to revert the default FSX this also inline the AI traffic can cause this problem , maybe best to reinstall your ORBX South Island , take AI out again and that should kick start it , i found the switchs quiet problem causing sometimes , then when the Traffic has been reinstalled you should be able to switch off the SI

Have you turned the sliders up in the traffic section in settings of FSX ?

I've never had South Island installed ever just bought it for the sake of it cause it was cheap only ever had VLC installed and it work great before

Yep checked that done that over and over again tried all sorts of variations of settings and nothing

I don't really seem to have any sort of default traffic going on either when the Default traffic is turned on and the Orbix off in the Orbix control panel I wonder if there could be a problem with the default FSX traffic and it somehow interfaces with Orbix when it is installed

Just out of interest, what happens if you turn off the FSX setting "aircraft casts shadows on the ground"?

Other than turning off the shadow not much I think the general quality of the scenery is not quite as good as when the shadows are turned on but that may be my imagination.

The reason for the suggestion was that with some scenery turning off ac shadows enables AI traffic display, dont know why but it does.

Have you got a copy of AIFP installed, use that if so, and install it if not, to check for any FS9 AI flightplans you may have loaded, it will also convert them to FSX format, FS9 flightplans will also block your AI display

I have looked at AIFP read the manual from cover to cover twice and watched all of the tutorial vids on YouTube so I thing I will have a go at writing my own AI flight plans

Crikey , what a mission , can't understand what is causing the problem , on top of the other AI package have you tried some of the earlier freewares packages .

Yea I don't understand it either Ian considering everything worked great before only stopped after the initial reinstall and I just don't seem to be able to get it up and running again

Can't recall , last time you had the texture issue with Ohakea , just thinking - did you have a HD just for FSX ?

Its not bad in respect if you simply and have only ever run FSX - if you have had both or run both on the same HD you will get .. for example FS9 CHCH will start talking to FSX and this causes many problems if you run both regularly .... but it is a good idea to have it on say a faster 10,200 drive and independent from your 'C' dirve , went through a texture issue just recent with Chris , best solution was a complete reformat of the HD .

When you manipulate files or build - autogenning , scenery making as in 3d model adding different aircraft almost every week in my case sometimes every day it will slow loading times .

Least with a independent HD it is much easier to isolate and sort the problem with out have certain files go into the back of the computer were you cannot find them - yes certain file will still write to the 'C' or your OS drive but they are not the primary FSX op's

I only have FS9 running now only to help troubleshoot FSniners and sometimes require models that we can't yet get in FSX for combat screens or again testing textures .

What the hell .. its cleaner and HDs are as cheap as cheese .

You really dont want to go writing your own flight-plans, beleive me I've done loads of them, it can be a pain.
Have you tried using AIFP to find and convert FS9 BGLs to FSX format yet? You didnt mention if you had actually done that. I still rekon that's the problem
