Just set up a system for fsx.
Using Saitek Pro Flight Rudder & Ch Products Flight Yoke.
The yoke only will disconnect between sessions.
Have to remove & re-insert USB plug.
After googling similar problems, I have installed CH Manager software & disabled power managment to turn off USB devices.
No change.
Currently trying other USB ports to see if that makes a difference.
Anyone had this problem?

A thought are you using a USB powered or un-powered bus port or USB's go directly to your PC ?

Definitely use the USB ports on your motherboard at the back of the PC. You did the right thing turning off USB power management... Did you do it for ALL "USB Root Hub" entries listed in Device manager?
You should probably uninstall CH Control manager (causes more problems than it solves and is not needed).

Both devices are plugged directly to the rear sockets.
Only the yoke has this problem.
I have tried with & without software, with & without power management.
No difference to the problem.
The yoke works well otherwise & never disconnects while in use.
The os is win7 x64.
Had the same problem on another similar system also running win7.
The only other USB device connected is a Macally trackball.
I am wondering if there is a problem with the yoke itself.

CH and the Saitek are very durable , but sometime they do conflict with each other , unplug each unit and test the PC reconizes your inputs , if both units do what i would be is a switch that is causing the conflict , double check your button assignments .. example brakes are a regular cause as with rudder and trim .

I think you might have nailed it Ian.
Had another look at the Saitek rudder assignments.
There had been an issue with the directional brakes but I hadn't been worrying about it as I am currently only flying helicopters.
I did some research on the Saitek site & sorted that out.
The changes I made were to the sensitivity, null & tick the boxes to reverse the action.
Since then the yoke is behaving.

Great , pleased you see some light .. get dang frustrating trying to see what or where problems are caused and some controllers seem to DOUBLE SWITCH .. when you only want the one unit !

The problem has returned.
Appears to be intermitant.
Sometimes it will stay connected after a reboot & other times it wont.
Same if system goes into sleep mode.
On one occasion the rudder pedals & yoke transposed their assignments.
Google has a few others with similar problems.
Appears to be more of a problem with win8.

Win8 - have you checked the Saitek and CH site for any possible solutions ? I did hear there were issues with in FS with Windows 8

Didn't find a support section as such on the CH site but have sent them a detailed email outlining the problem.
It will be interesting to see what they come up with.
I don't think the problem is conected to FSX as it will disconect anyway regardless of using it.

You had it running fine earlier did you not ? maybe simply re-map the controller and save the set in a separate file , window updates may have mucked around with your settings , least if it go haywire again just simply replace the file .

"re-map the controller and save the set in a separate file"
Not sure how or where to do that.
Unless you are meaning in the CH software program.
I have had a bit of a break-through.
One of the solutions I got from the net.
Return all the USB settings to default.
Install the software for both of the devices.
Have the CH software open when starting the sim.
That in itself didn't cure the problem but the CH software allows you to scan for devices.
So it finds the yoke & now I don't have to pull the plug each time I want to use it.
Havent heard from CH Products yet.

Got a reply from CH Products
Hi Rocky,
From the serial number you gave, it looks like the yoke is 5 or 6 years old. Since the yoke was built before Windows 7 existed, the sleep mode of Windows interferes.
Sincerely,

Arr Bugger it is a Win8 thing then , only option without buying a new setup is to find you controller cfg.s make a copy once you have reset it to suit you , drop those files in before any flying - lotta messing around tho .. not even sure if Pete Dowsons FSUIPC payware would help if win8 is interfering .
Edit : sorry your Win7 .. should not be a prob lotta people have old yoke s on that OS , I no a person with my old unit and has a new PC .. see if he has any issues .

Never mind.
At least I don't have to pull the plug now each time I want to use it.
