Well, sad to say things aren't working ZNSI-wise. First, I have to mention that I was mistaken in saying that when I installed it from the disc that it was installing into the Aeroprakt A-22 aircraft file in the FSX setup on the primary C drive. What it actually installed itself into was C:/Users/Neil/a22. All the files that I assume were supposed to have been downloaded from the disc were there (scenery, weather, effects, scripts, FTX_ORBX, etc.) and I then dutifully transferred them into what I thought would be the appropriate files and folders in FSX over on the D-drive. I booted up FSX and added the various scenery files to the scenery library in what seemed to be a logical order, and then signed off, and re-booted to check the results. I first selected to take a hop out of Wanaka but noted that it was offering only a single airstrip and one parking spot near the fuel pumps, so that didn't seem to bode well as I know Wanaka's busier and more developed than that, so I chose my favourite SI go-to airfield, Mandeville, and got into Ant's DH.82A Tiger Moth. I did notice that there were hangars, vehicles, and people around that are not seen in the default scenery, but immediately upon getting airborne I was faced with a horrific and confusing mish-mash of landclass polygons that looked anything but reasonable or normal. Unfortunately, I didn't take any screenshots to illustrate the problem, but trust me, it wasn't the scenery one expects of the SI.
One other thing of note. When I ran the installer - which sent everything into the C:/Users/Neil/a22 folder - it came up with a screen telling me to activate some "FTX_something" and to select "Oceania" but when I did so it came back with a flag saying that it couldn't find the a22 file.
I have, again, removed all of the ORBX NZSI files from my system. I'm eagerly awaiting the release of Alabeo's Piper PA38 Tomahawk 'cause I'm reasonably confident I'll get that to work with little trouble, having happily purchased and used their software before; it'll go some ways to alleviate the frustration I'm feeling now as NZ has been the one place I've wanted to spend most of my time with FSX in. There's a dearth of scenery for much of Canada - my home base - with very little in Ontario in particular.
N.
PS. Please don't think that I blame any of these frustrations on anyone here in the forums or with anyone at FTX/ORBX. Whatever problems have arisen with this are likely due to my distinct lack of computer savvy. I'm also having to deal with an illness right now that is causing me considerable physical discomfort...
