Would this Computer run FSX ok?
Intel i7 4770 Haswell Quad core 3.4 GHz Processor
16GB RAM
1TB (1000GB) Hard Drive
Cooler Master K380 Case
500W Tomahawk Power Supply
Gigabyte GA-H87M-D3H Motherboard
EVGA GeForce GTX 650 Ti Graphics Card
Windows 8 Pro 64 bit operating system
This has Windows 8, and it seems people have had a bad experience with Windows 8 and FSX, what do people think?
these are my old specs, the reason I want to upgrade is so I can stop my memory issues and improve frame rates etc
Windows XP SP3 32-Bit
AMD Athlon II X2 240 Processor 3.0 GHZ
4.00GB of RAM
Geforce GTX650 2GB of Memory GDDR5
Corsair HX650 PSU

Yes you should be happy with that..I am with mine.. Depends what you are planning to do sim wise (airliners, scenery etc) My new PC is very similar spec but I have an I5 processor. Same GPU. I have Half as much ram but that won't make a difference. I'm running about 30 to well over 100 FPS over orbx scenery in NZ .in GA aircraft.. It might go down a bit lower where there is dense autogen like Auckland. Most of my sliders are to the far right. I am using win 7 by the way

I don't think I've had any problems directly related to Windows 8, although setting up FSX on 64 bit needed some tweaking. I actually like Win 8, which surprised me after reading a lot of negative stuff online. I'm sure you'd be more than happy with it.
I guess some people might have trouble with drivers for various bits and pieces, the only thing I couldn't get to work was my old webcam, but I can live with that for the moment. Everything else installed a lot easier than the old Win 7 system.

That's an easy fix apart from ORBX. It's called FS2004

Hey Terry. You main problem is memory issues right? Not outright performance (you say your FPS is ok)
Did you read up on the 3GB boot.ini tweak suggestion I made when you last asked about this? You didn't reply last time, but might be worth trying before laying down $$ on an upgrade.

I'm assuming that's a pre-assembled unit.
Don't know what the cost is, but you could save several hundred by building your own & using the PSU & GPU you already have.

I was in the same situation as you and bought one very similar to this (except with an nVidia card), from the same guy and it absolutely dominates FSX + REX + Orbx SI, NI, PNW, GLOBAL etc.

Before you go running off buying that haswell, reconsider the PSU 800W would be a better option. Haswell is an oven, will require a decent heat sink, most have opted for water. Do some reading. You may be better off I7.

Prior to ordering your parts, or setting up your system, you might like to read this from an FSX 'guru'
The-fsx-computer-system-the-bible-by-nicknIt is a long read but very thorough.

Definitely not a 5 minute read.
But very good information.
I like the bit at the end
THIS THREAD IS NOT COMPLETE
I started pricing up his parts list, but stopped when it went past $3500

Yes expensive if you go top end but he does list other combos for lesser budgets.

If you search the web you will find mixed results.
If you are not sure, go for win7, I am quite happy running FSX on it.
If I decide to upgrade to win8 I'll try a trial version first.
