Hi everyone,

I've never had any major technical issues with FSX before, but tonight for some reason it is refusing to open past the splash screen. The splash screen shows for about 20 seconds, then just disappears. The only thing I have installed recently was NZQN from ORBX and it has been running fine up till now with that installed. I'm just wondering if anyone has seen this issue before and if so...any suggestions? If not, I'm prepared to give my computer a couple of days grace (to sort itself out...crazier things have happened) before I attempt an entire reinstall...which will obviously be no small task.

Specs:

FSX (with Acceleration/SP2)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Intel I5 650@3.20GHz
8GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX460
WD Velociraptor 450GB Hard Drive

Thanks in advance,

Matt

Most common is a corrupted logbook -- take a look here for that and other likely issues.

No luck with any of those solutions I'm afraid. Any other ideas?

You tried to do a re-install fix ? .. you did try the delete Cfg. and reboot the PC re-start FSX ? that's the other common fix pointed out in the list Rob posted from FSinsider ?

Try that delete cfg as Ian has suggested first, that's a good idea.
What was your default flight set as? Did you have it saved with an aftermarket plane as your start up flight? or a default plane?
You could always uninstall SP1/SP2 or acceleration (whichever you have) and then throw the first disc into your drive and 'repair' installation. At the end reinstall SP1+2 or acceleration. Sure beats a complete reinstall.

I ask about the default plane for your start up, as if for some reason you delete the plane, or it goes a bit faulty, it can prevent FSX from loading. Best to leave the default flight saved with a default plane (I use the trike)
Good luck

Yep, tried that .cfg one as well but no luck. Haven't tried any re-install yet, but will try that FSX reinstall tomorrow Alister, thanks for the suggestion. As a side note, I haven't changed any of the default flight settings since I first installed FSX.

Does sound a tricky one. Hopefully the repair installation will work for you. Has saved me twice now with my current install. Best of luck!

No luck with that Alister...thanks for the suggestion anyway. About to start uninstalling which probably isn't a bad thing anyway. Gives me a chance to clean my computer up while I'm at it.
