Well I currently have a Nivida Geforce GTX650 Card and are looking to upgrade slightly as I want to solve the issues of my frame rates going down to 10-15 at busy airports etc - well at least Im sure that will solve it?

System Specs:

Intel i7-3770 3.40HGZ
Seagate 500GB Hard drive
8GB of Ram
Nivida Geforce GTX650 GPU
Corsair HX650 PSU

will upgrading my GPU solve these issues? if so what GPU would be the best to go to? - I only have a Thermaltake M9 Mid tower case so there isn't a Lot of room

Most people won't say it .. 10-15 FPS is a standard with most systems at the large high detailed airports .

Seriously? - so 99% of systems would do that?

Bear in mind, what the sim software does is take note of all the inputs, figure out what the next screen should look like, and send that info to the graphics card, at least 24 times a second for smooth motion.
That is why MS Flightsims are very CPU (processor) intensive. A good graphics card with a good GPU and lots of dedicated video memory will ensure you have no bottleneck after the CPU has done its thing; but no matter how good the card is, it can only process what it gets from the CPU - it won't make the CPU run any faster. When you have lots of AGN trees and buildings, and lots of AI traffic, each item will be in a slightly different position in the next frame, and all that has to be calculated; introducing a plane with complex systems on top of all that will drag most CPUs to their knees sad.gif

One day, when the Toys-for-Granpa Fund is healthy again, I will have several SSDs to feed a very fast CPU, and a top-end graphics card to paint the screens very very quickly. I will only use the HDD for storing downloads and screenies.

Hah! I had to look it up to see what it was, but the Logitech website says it is 'Out of Stock'
I have a CH Yoke/Pedals/Quad setup, and all I really want is another Throttle Quad so I can have 12 levers to map through FSUIPC - essential for fine control of proper airliners with 4 big rumbly radials biggrin.gif

If I had a rig like yours I would be looking at dropping in a faster chip - if you Google the make + model number of your mobo, you should find what other, faster, i7s can be dropped in. I don't have much expertise in this field, but as mentioned above, if your GPU can't handle what the CPU can throw at it, that is the time to look for a new graphics card, not before.

Dash8captain.

Is your CPU i7-3770 or i7-3770k.
Reason I ask is, you will hold frame better by overclocking to 4GHz or more.
But you will need the k version to do that.

Also here is a good sight for comparing graphics cards.

Ah, bad luck.

Here is a review on the G940 if you havent already seen it.
Done 2009, there may be a later version now perhaps.
