When i try to land an Orion or Hercules & i am in the chase plane these aircraft disappear briefly on touching the runway unless i land on grass . This problem doesn't occur with single or twin engine aircraft. I have the joystick force feedback enabled although disabling it doesn't solve the problem either.

It maybe best to post some screens and also describe the who's aircraft (what models ) you are using and scenery may help.

Thanks Ian for your prompt response. Regarding the screens - can you tell me what you want the screen to show [i assume the screen is a screenshot?]. My aircraft include the AIRNZAF C-130E, Simshed C-130 RDAF & p-3c_.zip & the sceneries tried were Auckland Intl & Christchurch Intl [ not the default versions].

Yes Indeed Screen is a screenshot, I do have FS9 on the PC , Christchurch is the best place to start and show, since I built the airport 2X plus an upgrade I maybe able to shed some light with your problem.

I have just run FS9 again & on landing i moved from the chase plane view to the side view & the Orion didn't disappear! Please advise the screenshots you need e.g aircraft on landing - aerial view of airport etc. Regards John

John one good thing to try out, use your video replay to snap any abnormal to get a screen and compare from various positions you can repeat, if it shows a horrid landing screen it , for it maybe another reason, a mesh issue or a secondary afcad.

I would suspect a dodgy or missing "touchdown smoke" effect file or associated texture..... If the texture is missing it may render everything *behind* the invisible effect, err, invisible.... Seen it before when a texture doesn't load quickly enough

Hi Ian, I have videoed the Orion & saved the file, now how can i forward the file [never having done this before!]. The video shows the disappearing act.

Just easier to grab screens, something Sean mentioned regard to landing effects is also possible, If we see screens from your PC would be better.

Looks like the smoke effect obscuring the aircraft...

look in the aircraft.cfg for the particular aircraft, look under the [effects] section..

[EFFECTS]
wake=fx_wake
water=fx_spray
dirt=fx_tchdrt
concrete=fx_sparks
touchdown=fx_tchdwn, 1

Have a look at what is listed under touchdown=****

Change it to what I have above and try it out (this is using the default touchdown smoke effect)

Tell you the truth John , It was not what I expected ... I thought the aircraft was sinking into the ground and disappearing .

I never fly from those angles and I noticed the scenery very baron, It may be your point of view at the aircraft and being the more complex models because you did say, the defaults appear to work fine.

I would follow Sean's recommendations - compare the cfg.file - then if different , copy and replace .

Maybe if you try and screen from an oblique angle and a little higher up .. think it maybe your graphics card is on the low end, have you had these running before you have seen this problem.?

I haven't had this problem with single & twin engine aircraft only with these particular models. My vidcard is a Nvidia GTX 460 v2 & hasn't given any image problems to date. I will now uninstall all of these aircraft & load one at a time to see if this fixes this glitch. Thank you & SeanG for your kind efforts & i shall report my findings. Best regards John

Its damn annoying when you cannot find the answer, how is from a higher less close to the ground and slightly offset ? maybe a camera definition problem ?
