Well this is a question of fine tuning perhaps. I fly only round New Zealand in FSX. I install VLC scenery items such as produced by 'Godzone' and any VLC scenery I can download to enhance the New Zealand landscape.
I operate mostly in general aviation but do have the odd larger aircraft. My problem is that airport objects viewed from the aircraft 'outside view ' tend to flicker somewhat particularly when I rotate the view. Also on the KB Orion
changing from inside to outside view produces a small plunge of the aircraft nose much like suddenly applying the brakes, strange I hear you say!
I run 8M of RAM DDR3 1600 class 8, i7-3770K at 3.5GHz, & Win 7 64bit with a separate SSD for both FSX & 'C' drive. My VLC libraries is ver 1.4. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks. New_Zealand_etc.gif

I'd go directly across to http://www.vectorlandclass.co.nz./ for a start , check and see what you have installed or not .

I have downloaded all they offer and checked latest versions. The problem must be a little deeper than that me thinks? blink.gif

Have you brought everything on the higher settings (the Priority) in the scenery library , all your Godzone/RealNZ/VLC are above everything else in your scenery library?

There's your problem right there! You haven't spent enough money yet! {Joking of course) winkyy.gif Wanna swop my old rig for your new one?? super deal, no change given.

Interesting dilema though, are you using on board graphics and /or sound?

Sounds like a graphic card failure. What GPU are you using? Either way, maybe updating your drivers will help

Firstly what graphics card are you using and have you updated the graphics drivers recently? Also with flickering textures are you using DX9 or 10?

Outside objects flickering when rotating the view, can sometimes be caused by having "Objects cast shadows" switched on in the Options/Settings/Display/Scenery" option!

You have a choice...switch them on or off... smile.gif ...!

Thanks for all your responses. My graphic's card is a ASUS Nvidia GTX 760 OC 2G and is to the current driver version. Checked via 'DXDIAG' where DX11 was the current entry. I like the suggestion by Fozzer about shadows and will check that out today. Thanks again.

Fozzer you where right on the money. I turned off 'Ground scenery shadows' and success, no flickering. Thanks a bundle.
Any clue on the other problem about the nose plunge on the Orion? I can confirm the tarmac moves down momentarily as well but it happens when I switch views, not when I first go to outside view. I activate this from my Saitek X52 pro but it doesn't happen when I use the keyboard, push 'S' and move round via the number pad. I guess its the X52 that has the problem, I will check the driver for that as well, cheers.

It seems like you may have another key assignment to the button you have assigned to switching views.

Good job you stopped the flickering. Eagle!

Its a shame really, as I like to see all the various shadows in the Sim.
(The fault may be aggravated by the fact that I have all my scenery settings, etc, set at maximum!).
It makes the scene more realistic; and incorporating shadows on ground placed objects and aircraft shows their position it relation to the ground, particularly aircraft on the ground, as without shadows they always appear to be hovering above the ground...particularly in screen shots!
I ALWAYS switch all shadows ON before taking screen shots!

Mostly, I leave "ground cast objects shadows" switched ON, and ignore the occasional flickering in favour of more reality!... winkyy.gif ...Reality is nice!.... biggrin.gif ...!

Paul...a very shadowy figure!... ninja.gif ...!
