New guy alert !! (though not to simming, just nzff.)....so greetings to all !!
I have been trying to add downloaded Missions to FSX and am going OK until i get to the bit where you have to copy/paste the new bit onto the aircraft.cfg file and change the "x" for the next number in the sequence. At this point i get a message...."You don't have permission to save in this location.Contact the administrator to obtain permission.Would you like to save in the Documents folder instead?".....????...(err no I wouldn't actually !!)

Of course I have permission-...its MY computer !! And who is this administrator anyway and what is he doing on my computer ????????

Any ideas so i can get going again....??

BTW..anyone know of any NZ based Missions apart from the ones on flyawaysimulations?

Welcome to NZFF.

I can think of a couple of ways around this. Even though it's your computer, it is quite common that 'normal' use is not with full administrator privileges, as this is one way to make sure that people don't do stupid things and stuff things up. Although your computer needs an administrator account, you probably log in with a 'standard' account.

However you could run everything using the administrator account, as long as you accept that this is a bit risky.

To change your account type:
Control Panel -- User Accounts and Family Safety -- Change account type

Then click on your account, 'change account type'.

(I've never done this, so I assume it would work, but it may be a bit trickier since there should already be an admin account.)

The other way, which is the preferred way, I think, is to reinstall FSX so that it is not in the User Access Controlled areas. That is, anywhere outside the normal Program Files system.

Thanks toprob......tried the Control Panel way-it says i am already the administrator. There is no other account.

As for reloading FSX....(yikes)will that mean i lose everything and will have to spend days reloading it all..Addon Programs,Sceneries,Missions etc ?? or is there a shortcut(quicker) way ?
