Hi all,

I did a forum search and could not find an answer so I apologise if this has already been discussed.

I have a pc with windows vista (home premium) which is running both FS9 and FSX. I have a 19 inch widescreen LCD as my main monitor and a 17 inch crt as a secondary. When I am using FS9 in full screen mode I can have FSNav on the secondary monitor and any instruments, but I cannot seem to do this with FSX.
The only way I have managed to utilise the second monitor with FSX is by having FSX in windowed mode and 'undocking' the various instrument windows I want (i.e. gps, radio stack etc).
Any ideas how I can utilise the second monitor in full screen mode? Or am I stuck with this in FSX (windowed mode utilisation only) ?

Many thanks for your considered replies.....

btw.. specs.... (not the flashest, but will do...)

CPU: Intel Core Duo 6400 @ 2.13 GHz
Ram: 1 Gig
Mobo: Asus
Vid: Nvidia GeForce 8600GT
Monitors: 1 x Viewsonic CG1930wm and 1 x Viewsonic E70fb-2
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium

Hello there.

I run two monitors in FSX, but I'm using windows XP. I'm using a 19 widescreen and a 17 like you. I'm running two PX7950's to do the job. I'm not very tech minded so I'm not sure how much help I can be :)

Hello again all.... :)

Well shortly after posting above, I may have stumbled across a solution whilst playing ...... :whoops:

I remember having to disable desktop composition on the fs9.exe file to get my fsnav going under vista or something....

So I tried the same thing with the fsx.exe and now I can drag the gps etc across to the second monitor whilst in full screen mode... .

So for any vista users that have this problem, go into windows explorer and go into the properties of the fsx.exe file under your default FSX directory and tick "Disable desktop composition" and apply. This appears to work for me.

Hope it helps someone.....

Just as an addon to the above post..... :sleepy: if you are all still awake.. There is an additional bug if you run multiple monitors in full screen mode under Vista for any application not specifically for FSX. Sometimes the monitors go into a black/white 'flicker' mode and the only way to get out of it was to alt-enter to windowed mode and back again.
There is a fix for this from microsoft and it is a vista fix and not an FSX fix. So if you are experiencing the multi-monitor flicker problem under Vista with any app full screen, try the hot fix which can be found ........ HERE
