downloaded a utility today to check my computers temperature and to change my fan speeds etc. Well i noticed that the GPU is sitting on 56 degress Celcius as I am posting this(I have no other programmes open)
When I play something like Need For Speed Most Wanted or FS9, it easily gets to 95-100 degress. :o

Sooo, Im wondering what everyone elses video card runs at :)

please tell me if this is normal or not

*Note- I am using a laptop with a ATI Radeon 9600 Turbo Pro if this means anything

Water boils at 100 degrees mate, I would question whether you program is mis-reading your card's temp, unless you have a Dell or an Apple laptop, I hear those batteries are fiery ;)

I would think that the card would shut down before 95-100 degrees to prevent damage. What program are you using to check its temperature?

laptops do tend to get hot, and motherboard temp monitors have been known to be off by 20 degrees. is the bottom of the laptop hot?
