Hi, I have noticed on some video card's info that it requires a minimum of 500w PSU. Does this mean, if you have two to them in SLI, you would have to have a minimum of 1000w PSU, (with SLI as well) ?

Yes. Just the job for winter - a 1kW heater under the desk
Diminishing returns though, performance is nowhere near 2x.

So not worth SLI'ing for flight sim then? OK so then that will bring the price down for the system if I'm not getting a sli mobo and psu. Anyone recommend a price/performance video card then. Will be playing FS and COD4, Crysis.

NZ PCWorld:
For instance, for the Beast we wanted an Nvidia 8800 Ultra "†the fastest single card currently available "†but it cost a whopping $1400. The next step down is an 8800GTX, running some 10-15% slower than the Ultra, but even cards using this chipset cost between $700 and $900. Instead, we've picked a newly-released variation of the 8800 family, an XFX 8800GTS Alpha Dog Edition. It costs only $530 but performs just as well as the GTX.

The new (G92) 8800GTS card is the price/performance winner at the moment...
You can tell the new version by the amount of memory... if it has 512 or 1024Megs... then its the new one... if it has 320 or 640megs its the older (slower) version...

Yes been considering it, this damn computer is turning out to be $$ even selvaging old parts.
It's too new, tom's hardware hasn't included the G92 GTS to their charts, hopefully soon though.

dont bother with SLI. Its a complete waste of time, money, and its an annoyance to say the least (i speak from experience).
Best bang for buck= 512MB 8800GT for $269 new or around 210 on trademe. Plays crysis on high, so it will certainly be enough for fs

OK. 8800GTS or GT. I like the price of the GT, and we've been down this road before. 10% better for $150 more.
If I'm not going to bother with SLI, does the chip set of the mobo effect anything? Keep in mind I won't only be playing FS.
Thanks for sticking around everyone (in this topic), I really do appreciate your advise and comments.
