Hi, just got the DVD drive. It says though:
QUOTE
For IDE optical drives, configure the drive jumper to set the device to either Master, Slave, or Cable Select mode before installing it into the chassis[/quote]
What does that mean?

Ignore that. I've now installed it correctly making one happy customer!
It installed all right but when you put in a DVD, no sound comes out. What do I do to fix this?
okay. SOund working for CD (e.g. a music CD) but not for DVD. Any ideas why this may be?
Out of where? the jack on the front of the drive? or the computer sound card?
Sorry.
As it turns out this computer didn't have an MPEG-2 codec. (after I uninstalled nero... long story)
Does anyone have any links to any free codecs that work?

I use this http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_lite_codec_pack.htm for some reason whenever I reinstall windows no codecs are installed for some reason
.this does the trick
I found K-Lite to be getting a bit bloaty and full of rubbish you did not really need...
Personally I prefer the Combined Community Codec Pack... CCCP...
It will play anything you throw at it and is relatively small at around 6 or 7megs... also has Media Player Classic, which is nice and clean... unlike the bloat that is Windows Media Player...
