I was wondering if anyone else had a Maxtor one touch III 300gb and has had problems accessing files?

I've just had a look on mine after my computer crashed, it says there's 1.64gb of space left (what it was before the crash), but when I go into it, and go into a folder where my music is or stuff for FS, there's nothing, or a lot missing in the folders. I'm hoping it's nothing serious, but it's got me very worried.

Has anyone had the same problem with any external harddrive for that matter?

I run three external HDs but only as a backup library,s , but it sounds like the sectors are crashing - my best resolve is getting it to someone who can recover the files .

try scanning your drive for errors. It could be a major problem.

Yeah I done that soon after, transferred all the files to the computer, scanned it, formatted then scanned again and transferred all the files back, no problems.
Another bit of good news, I downloaded rivatuner and had a look at the fan speed on my GPU...it was only set at 30%, thought I'd raise it and see if it made any difference in games....well it has, HUGE improvement when I set it to full speed. Supreme Commander before I raised the fan had the 'black lines, coloured squares' etc show up after a few seconds of play, it crashed then FPS went right down. Now after, I can play for a long time and only see the black lines every once in a while, I did get the coloured squares...but that was when I set the resolution back up to 1650x1050 and never had them again.

The other thing people suggested was to set the GPU clock speeds back down to the regular speed of a GTX280 (mines the XXX factory overclock edition), something I won't be doing myself. I'd rather take it back into dragonPC and see what they say, afterall I don't want to be doing something and screwing it up and possibly lose the warrenty. Still, even though I've got the card running a heck of a lot more stable I think I'll still bring the whole system back and see what their verdict is.
