just so that i could maybe play it on other computers, and also save ALL my documents for on-the-go, do you think FSX installed on an external usb hard drive would be a good idea? would it give me the blurries? would the HDD break? ive seen other people on other forums succefully do this but also one person whose HDD actually created smoke ohmy.gif what do you guys think?

hahah the guy that had smoke coming from his was probably trying to run it on a slow RPM HDD that just couldnt cope. an external hard drive is just a normal harddrive in a case connected via USB so the only thing limiting it is the USB. i had my FSX working through external at one point, useful for plane backups if nothing else.

so it really wont do any damage if its a pretty average-fast speed HDD?

cant promise and most definetly wont replace your drives if they smoke tongue.gif but i think it should be fine. i even run high games like GTA or crisis off mine so it should be fine

There is another post here in the forums about this topic and its out come was a no not a good idea due to alot of reasons ...
it is best to run it from a internal HD attached to a IDE or sata cable connected to your motherboard ..

Yes external hard drives are good for backing up aircraft and scenery but i always run those from the flightsim proper locations ,ie simobjects _addon scenery library ...
