My reasonably new Video Card has a pair of slots so will take two monitors....

I have a spare 17" monitor as I'm storing a computer system for family overseas...all I need is an adaptor on the plug-in end to
plug into the video card. This must be pretty standard as my existing monitor requires one to plug into the card, no doubt Dick Smith etc
will have the part.

Can anyone explain the set-up for me as it applies to Flightsim, I am on FS9 and Win XP.

I am interested on how you control the second monitor and what use others have found for it I can see that 3 monitors would be great, with
a view straight ahead and a left and right view as well, however, that's not going to happen.

Input appreciated.

Yeah you just need that little adaptor and plug it in before you start the pc up ,I normally just pic up the screen in the properties desktop option or the nivida options and set it as a independent (duel monitor ) that is up to you ..
i normally just doc the fs windows so i can move drag them over to my other screen have ts showing and msn ,run music check the forums and so on pretty handy ...

Warning the more fs windows you have running across the monitors the harder hit you will have on flps and FSim ..

I have cockpit or spot view on the main monitor, and whatever I'm going to need on the second.

In the B200 or Baron that means the GPS and almost all the switch panels, on larger planes depending on what I'm doing it's either the overhead panel or in the air the FMC.

With the FMC and either GPS or FSNav map there I can surf or work on the main screen and keep track of the flight on the second screen.

Cheers
Gary

Definitely try getting that set up! I think you would find it very useful. I've wanted to have a second monitor set up specifically for the benefits to my flightsiming for ages! I keep looking on TradeMe for a nice small LCD monitor to set up next to my main one.

I think it would be great just to have the GPS on view constantly, while using the VC on the main screen. If you fly on Vatsim, or even if you just like using real-world charts, then the second monitor would be AWESOME. I just love the idea of flying a SID or STAR with the applicable chart constantly displayed right in front of me. It would be like my own electronic flight bag, like they have on 777s and A380s (amongst other new aircraft).

You'll probably end up not wanting to give it back! From what I've heard, setting up two screens is actually (normally) pretty simple. smile.gif

Thanks for your input guys, think I'll give it a whirl.... Re the kind offer above, see we're both in Tauranga ? Let me see what
they're worth before I bludge yours, they shouldn't be very expensive and there must be heaps out there. Yes, the unit on the end
of the monitor cable is blue, the card showing white. I've got to get some photo's printed today so will probably go to
Hardly Normal anyway. Thanks again.
