Heya, I've recently reinstalled FS9 and by the time it loads into the menu the screen is completely black, but it looks asthough I can still click things, I changed the fs9.cfg to start it windowed and it ran fine, I then hit ALT ENTER once flying, and it still seemed to go fine, apart from I couldn't end flight as nothing would happen, and I couldn't click on the buttons up top when you press alt. When I get into the main menu in windowed mode, then change in to fullscreen, the game locks up and I have to restart my comp.
Specifications:
CPU: AMD 4600+ Dual Core @ 2.4GHz
GPU: nVidia GeForce 8500GT Silent
RAM: 2048mb
Motherboard: Asus M2A-VM HDMI
Things I have tried so far:
Downloading latest GPU Drivers
Installing FS9.1
EDIT: Running Windows XP Pro Sp3 32 bit

I get this a lot with Vista on my FSX - with an 8800GTS. I find I have to have some other (small) app running in the background then use CTL-ESC then ALT-TAB (selecting FSX) to get back into FSX. Not sure why, but ALT-TAB works to come *out* of FSX, but never back *in*. Haven't a clue why.

two things, if it is Vista DO NOT install in the program files directory make your own like Games etc. Second ensure your vid card is set to no greater than 4x antiliasing I have found doing both these things bought my FS back to a good standard.

Well somehow, making FS9 run under 4x AA in nHancer seemed to fix the problem, it was originally turned off.
EDIT: woo 100th post

Arrrrgh! A bit late for the install directory! Goodness knows how many add-ons would barf, I suspect. Or is it a simple move then registry edit? I'll give the 4X a try though. Not sure what I currently have mine set to (I use nHancer as well).

I use the TweakFS registry tool to reinstate FS on a partitioned drive if I have to format and reinstall Windows. Both FS9 and FSX run (At least on my system) after reinstalling Windows, but not without using the Registry Tool first.
Free TweakFS tools

Free TweakFS toolsThanks for that link

- I grabbed all the free apps that I haven't already tried!
I think I may just try a new HD with a new Windows7 RC install on it - then install a clean FSX and see how I go! That is, if I don't get activation issues because of my existing install on Vista.
