Anyone here using the iFly 737NG on their FS2004 will be pleased to learn the feature pack has been released for this plane, and you can download it from the registered users section of the ifly fs2004 product support forum.
I'm currently downloading, and it's 566mb in size (pretty slow 65kb/sec download at present though)
Plenty of nice new features, bringing it into closer alignment with some of the FSX features too which is good.

Y'know... if I hadn't just invested in a Regional Jet, I would be in there learning the Boeing.
Sounds excellent - maybe one day. There are so many "one days"
Let us have some impressions, please.

If only Charl... sad.gif Busy life with the wife working from home in the evenings, (at least until the wedding cake she is currently working on is delivered on Saturday), three little ones, and working all day.
But will try to take her for a spin on the weekend and leave you some feedback. I've done the install and been through all the new configuration options you have to choose from. Excellent stuff biggrin.gif I really don't think there is a 737 pack that even comes close to this on FS2004. I now even new models installed for the B737-700ER, and B737-900ER. The HUD is now an option in all aircraft types, rather just default installed in the BBJ models.
Good stuff.

Ok.. no inflight pics, but I did at least fire up the APU and take a few ground shots. smile.gif She's a sweet plane really, nothing beats it on FS9..

At the gate in Wellington

With the lights test button activated

Copying a PMDG promotional shot biggrin.gif (except this is FS9 of course, so I'm not expecting any PMDG NGX miracles) Great none the less!

Dusk now. The night lighting is wonderful

Overhead (from VC)

Full cockpit with dome light on. You can see the terrain display active now. That's new for v3.0

And the outside at night to close. Maybe some more shots when I can actually get it airborne

Regards,

You must be meaning the new PMDG NGX Ian? Yeah, I'd love to have a play around on that one sometime. The pics look great. My current PC wouldn't be up to running it though. It struggles a bit in VC on the FSX iFly 737. I doubt my FSX would run more than 5 fps with an NGX. I have no plans to upgrade my pc until this one dies, but when I do, I'll add NGX to the new PC list of upgrades biggrin.gif

Looks fabulous, thanks for sharing the screenies. I wouldnt panic to get the NGX to be honest from looking at these shots. Systems modelling is pretty good on the iFly to right

Yes I don't suppose many would have both, but I am wondering what the strengths of each are?
Or are they competing in the same marketplace??

Thanks guys. Indeed it is a great plane, and a very suitable 'other' 737 in place of a PMDG for FSX, and I believe nothing better in FS2004 for the 737 NG series.

For FSX Charl they certainly are competing in the same marketplace.
This would be my judgement, based on user reviews, and screenshots (of the PMDG), and my own experience with ifly FSX.

In FSX, there is nothing like the PMDG NGX ever released before it. It's groundbreaking PC technology with all the good bits included that you could possibly wish for. Plus it's extremely detailed visually at the same time. Ifly still looks great, but the PMDG takes it above and beyond what has been seen in FSX before I believe. Certainly so in the 737 series. And to be honest, the PMDG is probably likely to be programmed a bit better. I think you could safely say it would win in almost any test between it and the ifly.

Ifly however does has a couple of areas I think it would win.

Price (bound to be cheaper)
Models (600,700,700ER,800,900,900ER,BBJ1,BBJ2,BBJ3) - all included in the one pack/ one price.
Performance is probably better on older machine (I can actually run it ok on FSX on my dated PC). We'd all agree PMDG requires a newer generation of PC, (and a 64bit operating system if possible)

So in summary, someone on an older computer, I would recommend the ifly, newer pc, the PMDG.

I would rate my ifly 9 out of 10, and I bet if I ever get the PMDG, I would rate it 11 or 12 out of 10.
I really love the ifly, and not unhappy with it in the slightest. But I am honest enough to concede that I think the PMDG is a better plane, but one that isn't suited to me or my situation smile.gif
