ORBX is working on NZAA!

"I am pleased to announce that we are 50% through development of NZAA Auckland International Airport which will join NZQN Queenstown Airport for NGX-ready flights in Middle Earth."

Forum thread here.

Rather unexpected considering they said they wont do any more large airports. Im not a heavy driver but will probably get this...My bigger wish is that they do Ardmore and Dairy Flat

Not home to a Mossie for much longer. She's pretty much packed for shipping to the US of A.

Jeeze, talk about an underwhelming response to this announcement...
I for one am pretty excited about this, I know these things aren't trivial, but cannae believe its taken this long for someone to take on NZAA at this level. Go ORBX !!!

I think that is going mean I'll be jumping into the Orbx camp, this is long overdue - an upgrade to our major airport, I hope it does it justice. Just going to have to do my flight planning before starting FSX to work out to load VLC or Orbx. unsure.gif

thats not bad - even the airport company isn't that far advanced!

I could take a couple of shots of my van for the ATC carpark if you like wink.gif

Its quite amazing how Orbx have invested a company into FSX inspite of its shortcomings and limited architecture. I wonder if they will eventually go into designing a sim of their own. Obviously a massive project but the way they have grown and become industry guru's on FSX and scenery, why not recruit the talent and design an engine?
Perhaps they will link up with an outfit like Outerra and add their two cents.

In any case its great that FSX lives on although I'd love to see an overhauled flight dynamics engine to really improve what I feel is the biggest letdown of the sim. Xplane is on the right track but it is nowhere near FSX with its intuitive interface and amazing scenery and aircraft add-ons.
