I would prefer a Cessna T-37 "Tweetie" Dragonfly .... surely Alabeo must be all GA'ed out along with it's sister Carenado counterpart !

Well they did it back in the 1950s .. weighing passengers to put them in correct CG placement pre boarding ... maybe another kids in the back jobbie.

I used to fly one of these back in the mid eighties, ZK-DSE, on a regular service from Ardmore and Auckland (on demand) to Waiheke airfield (The old Stonyridge strip that used to be next to Stonyridge Winery and is now actually part of it). The winery and it's owner is another story smile.gif
They are a great machine but not as good as the 206. Despite marginally more horsepower it had a slightly different wing and just lacked that zing the 206 had. Still a great workhorse.
Numerous times the aircraft would crash on it's tail during loading or on shutdown if not careful. If it did sit on it's tail then after climbing aboard and starting it up, the check was to see if it would come down onto the nosewheel with just a smidgin more than idle RPM.
If it did then it was within the CofG range. If not it required a reshuffle. It never did impress the boss when you parked up outside the office, cut the engine and then have it crash on it's tail!
I can recall one day being rostered for an afternoon Waiheke return in the 207 but as I was running late with a student on an IFR training flight another one of our pilots had to fly it for me. My replacement had the misfortune to have a engine failure on the way back and had to put it down on some mudflats around the Maraetai area. He did a good job with minimal damage but both he and the aircraft were covered in mud.
Cost me a few beers that night.

The Stonyridge airfield was quite a tricky one to operate to and from (being a one way strip) and there was quite a battle when the Reeves airstrip opened up.

A tale of two airfields

ZK-DSE around 1989 in it's post Motor Holdings/Flightline days (with a yuk paint scheme I might add):

Interesting stuff, thanks for that post. I was talking to someone very recently who flew both the 207 and 206 in Africa and was of the same opinion that the 206 was the more enjoyable aircraft.

Arr the Beers, that is what they are for, I am very surprised they did have a load pillar built onto airframe, would not have been a silly idea.

Cessna 206s and 207s always look like they'll just take a slight tap or breeze to put them on their tails while sitting still. I wonder if it's a common occurrence...

Two door seven seat, a case of folding seats down ... just don't put 'big mama' in the back, maybe the cargo panier for her.
