Dean , the change to the textures really good , Greg's example is starters, when I did the MP with 40/50 so peoples in a DC-3 in the mid Canada area after the purchase, it really added that extra detail regard with autogen and greenery .. closed everything up making it much more filling enjoyable.
I tried in the UK it was such a change then one region I knew well was Seattle just for Boeing field , the other was Australia , I have nearly all ORBX OZ bar a few airports .. the Global loaded simply have not bothered to reinstall yet because it did the job .

Vector adds yet another layer of 'realism' / accuracy but I'm on a world trip in the RV8 and have noted that not all areas of the world have received the same level of attention, either because of poor source data (I guess) or because the areas are not popular and therefore no-one has squealed 'foul' ( I guess again!). It's still worth having though, and the OpenLC layers bring that final touch that almost, 'almost' brings an area to ORBX region quality (except without the added touches like upgraded airports, POIs. etc).
ORBX are on a mission to make a new "default" FSX/P3D and their vision is replacement of the base layers: textures (FTX Global), mesh (FS Global 2010 FTX), vector data like roads, rail, coastlines, etc (FTX Vector) and the landclass placement (OpenLC regions, of which EU is the only one released so far). All these products compliment each other and are designed to go with each other to lift the base to a new level of realism. ORBX regions then bring the extra candy. Its all good :-)
So far I have all ORBX base products and regions except the new Norway (I'll buy that when I get there on my world trip; it'll be on sale by then!). I don't have many of their payware airports: Milford, Queenstown, Jackson's in PNG and Coffs Harbour in Aus. Of course, I do have their freeware meshes (Aus and PNG), freeware airports and freeware NA and NZ/AUS AI traffic.
Cheers

Thanks for that. Comforting to know I'm heading in the right direction to a better FSX environment. After studying my options, I decided that FS Global 2010 FTX & FTX Global were a must, ( and FTX Vector if I can get it before the end of the Christmas Sale - depending on Xmas cash from my dear old Mum).
Not bad for a staunch FS9 supporter.

Just bought NZNI. I suppose I should have spent my money on P3D

Nah .. with the addon's still fine with FSX, I'm waiting for P3D to level out ... all the versions to buy ... I did wonder if the P3D did get a update or did they have to buy it again .. and again and the next version.

That's certainly something I was looking at. Surely you don't have to pay full price for an update. I'm just worried about NZNI bringing the computer to it's knees..

I think you would be impressed , It should handle it without a major ... "put the foot on the brake" with frames.

Today's world you almost need to post your passport details, an exact copy .. before that would become viable, then ...

I bought P3Dv2 and it has been free updates up to the current 2.4
I *think* LM will take the same approach as others with point releases being free updates and major version updates being at cost. Don't quote me though.
