I see its been let loose .... still waiting for the icon , they did say it might take a day or two to trickle down , from what I've read fsx works well .... has to be better than 8, otherwise I'm back to XP.

If you don't want to wait for the staggered release using the win 10 icon you can go to MS and download an ISO. I've done the upgrade this way and to be honest it was a bit rough with apps playing up and some quirky behaviours. It seems to have settled down now that it's finished patching.

I've not yet had a chance to try FSX SE yet... Will give it a go tonight. Fingers crossed.

Actually...

..when it comes to simple, daily browsing the Internet for information, and playing different computer games, like I do....

...I wonder what benefits there are to changing from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10?

Will my Interplanetary Space Fighter go any faster?

Will my Icons appear in glorious 3D Technicolour...

...and my sound be in in Super Imax Dolby Surround Sound?

Paul....just an ordinary Internet browser Bloke, with an Interplanetary Space Fighter....when the situation demands... :D ...!

Paul, to answer your three questions: No, Yes, No.

I'll post here what I said on FSDeveloper -- although I've used every version of Windows since 3.1, I've never upgraded a machine before, this will be the first time for me. I have always gone with the latest OS whenever I replace my PC.
So this will be a first for me, if I decide to go ahead. The things which make it attractive this time around:
  • It's free;
  • It's apparently a 'hands-off' install (yet to be convinced);
  • I think it will be great on my tablet.

I can see a lot of benefits for someone like me, I like the integration between my phone, PC and tablet with Windows 8, I had no trouble accepting Win 8, though, but most of my love for it comes from using the touch tablet -- if Microsoft have improved the PC experience, which people say they have, then it will suit me very well.

I also subscribe to the theory that you really need to sell your soul if you want to take full advantage of the modern internet, so I might as well sell it to Microsoft. The alternatives seem a lot worse to me, Google don't even know I have a tablet -- oops, now they do -- and there's no reason why they should know everything about me. On the other hand, I have seen the benefits of Microsoft knowing all my dirty secrets, mainly through the Windows phone, and a lot of the ideas implemented in Win 10 are from Windows Phone.

As I also said on FSDeveloper, simmers are generally a) male; b) older; so in some respects we are by definition grumpy old men. We have learnt the hard way that change means deterioration -- eye-sight, prostate, libido, job prospects -- so we don't like it much.

On the other hand, my 'other' hobby is the future, and I plan to get as far into it as possible. I like to try something new every week, and hopefully this week it'll be Windows 10. If my tablet ever gets off it's ass...

I think that is were I don't really need its use since I don't own a tablet or a cellphone and it not going to make FSX faster, so I'll stick to the current OS.
I do wonder why they are giving it away were as previous OSs were expensive.
