I was building one of these in a 'previous life' (casualty of the separation, unfortunately).
Probably my favorite GA aircraft.

Terrainy Studios, available from ORBX.
Purchased, and installing now...

I agree with you on the video deeknow.

A mate of mine in Palmerston North is building an RV7 kit (which I think is the tandem seat version of the RV8). I've been bringing back bits and pieces of aircraft accessories and tooling from the States for him. He was a longhaul FO but recently did his command on the A320.....bad timing.
He is a perfectionist with a healthy dose of OCD. Only the best will do, and when you apply that to all things aviation its damn expensive.
The recent spike in the $US and drop in the $NZ just put the cost of his engine up by $NZ 36,000.

The RV-7 is the side-by-side version.
The RV-8 is the inlione/tandem version.
The tail and wings are largely the same, and they typically take the same engine too.
Great little aircraft with 'fighter-like' handling, especially the -8.
I've flown in both (and an RV-12 and RV-6) as passenger, with hands on all except the -8 and they all have great great handling.
I'm a bit of a Vans Aircraft fan-boy and keen to see how the new high wing RV-15 works out; certainly looks interesting.

For pilots (particularly dare I say American pilots) used to Cessnas and Pipers that handle relatively like buses the RVs must be a revelation.

Ah my bad there I meant tandem to be side by side not inline.
I think it was in the Kitplane mag that I was reading about the RV-15 and it's development, and yes, it does look interesting indeed.
